So of course I have to ask what you thought of the latest episode of Downton Abbey. As always, I enjoyed seeing the costumes immensely, but the more episodes I watch, the more I feel as if I have to 'fill in' many of the storylines myself. It's as if they are trying to tell too many of the characters' stories in each one, so that none of them gets enough time to be told properly. I would have to go back and watch Seasons 1 and 2 again, but from what I remember, it didn't seem to be that way in either of them. What are your thoughts? On a shopping-related note...
I shared with you earlier this week that the Knit A-line dress from Brooks Brothers in currently on my wishlist. Well, there are a few other things there that I quite like, as well...
Large Calfskin Satchel in Black and White.
I've mentioned before that Black and White is my favorite color combination (along with Pink and Green), so I was delighted to see this bag done in Black and White. Granted, I'm not delighted with the price, but Brooks Brothers does end up having really good sales, which would make the price more appealing eventually. Btw, the bag also comes in a Navy-Red-White combo, as well as in Cognac.
Wool Stretch Dress
How lovely is this? A classic piece in a modest length that will last for many years to come, plus it happens to be on sale right now, too!
The Burnished Calfskin Driver Shoes, which also come in a similar style and fun color of green which you can see here. Another adorable shoe which comes in multiple colors is the Calfskin Spectator Sandal which you can see here in Navy, here in Red, and here in Tan...which color is your favorite?
There are many more items on the site that I am quite fond of, but that may just need to be a post of its own for another day. In the meantime, I do want to let you know that there is currently a great sale going on at Brooks Brothers with many lovely items at up to 60% off. Click here to shop the sale, and take a peek at my picks below: *Wool and Cashmere V-Neck Dress In other sale-related news...
I shared yesterday that J.Crew, Madewell, Banana Republic, and GAP are also running good sales right now with savings up to 40% off. You can see more details and my personal picks for each store in this post.

As most of you know, all of these great winter sales mean that the Spring 2013 New Arrivals are now being debuted at various retailers, and I wonder what your thoughts are on this? I know that many of you are still experiencing freezing temperatures, so do you enjoy looking at all the spring offerings, or would you prefer that they not be shown until closer to March? Do you ever go ahead and purchase items in advance now to wear for spring when it does come, or do you hold off buying until the weather warms up, and you can actually wear your purchase?
So what are your plans for the weekend? I will be hitting the market to restock the pantry and frig again, attending church service, grading schoolwork, watching Downton Abbey, and hopefully going out for a 'date night' with my hubby. That's it for now...I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Do you have anything fun and exciting planned? Just going to relax at home? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :) xoxo, ![]() |

That Brooks Brothers sale is amazing! It's a good time to have a look at the Black Fleece line, xoxo rates it quite highly so I've been having a look. I am sticking to my list however! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree about Downton Abbey, and you are right, seasons 1 and 2 did not have the same pace. Funny, I wonder if they brought in a new writer?
We have a busy weekend of parties to go to. Dressing up and then braving the snow!
I hope you have a great weekend and a lovely date night with your hubs.
Hi Dani! Yes, I agree that the BB sale is amazing, especially a lot of the Black Fleece line. I am so glad that xoxo has let us know that it is excellent quality and worth the money.
DeleteI'm not sure about the new writer...will have to check into it. That would explain a lot if it is the case.
Have fun at your parties! It sounds like a lovely weekend! :)
Hi FFM! Love these images - you know I am going to put them on my pinterest boards right away!
ReplyDeleteI love these brooks brothers choices. I do not own anything from the store, but plan to visit when I go to NYC.
I do not have a list for Spring yet, as I do not yet know what I am doing workwise. I do still need to get off my butt and organize some time with you as well, as I want to be very judicisious this spring/summer, what with our redecoration of family room and being on a strict budget. It is going to require discipline!!!
As for Downton - I liked this episode better. I think Mary is so spoiled, Edith is starting to look better to me! And I loved it when Matthew went to The Grande Dame for advice and her truthful reaction - she is one amazing actress playing a very interesting character. I am getting a little tired of the Bates/Anna - surely they can wrap that up this season. And I think Thomas is going to get into a pile of trouble...Oh! and poor daisy!
Hi WMM! Let me know what you think of Brooks Brothers once you visit. We only had 2 of their factory stores here, but recently got a regular retail one in our mall that also has J.Crew, Tory Burch, and Anthropologie, so needless to say I am absolutely thrilled!
DeleteYes, the budget will require discipline, but it is possible, and I know you can do it! :)
Well, I like Mary, even though she's spoiled, and I quite like Edith too. It's nice to see her character becoming more developed and interesting as time goes on. The Grande Dame is still my favorite (next to Lady Mary & Mr.Carson). I just love the comments she comes out with!
I have Downton Abbey on my to watch list... I can't wait to get started and catch up!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I will be spending time with my parents and then working on things around the house before school starts for me on Monday. Not the MOST fun, but low-key is a great option non-the-less...
XO Lucy
Hi Lucy! Oh, I think you will love Downton Abbey! Be sure to let me know what you think once you start watching!
DeleteI hope you are having a wonderful time with your parents this weekend. I agree that most times low-key is a great options...enjoy! :)
Oh I love Mr. Carson so much! SO proper!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention extremely loyal! :)
DeleteI cannot put my finger on what is different about Downton Abbey this season. Time passage between episodes doesn't seem different to me. It's been a bit darker this season, maybe. I agree with WMM the Bates/Anna storyline is old, they need to move that along and stop trying to make it such a tragic star-crossed lovers story. Something good is allowed to happen to them! I would love to see Edith in a new relationship, I hope they'll do more with her storyline.
ReplyDeleteWe get winter weather, but I love seeing the pretty spring clothes come out early, it cheers me up. I'll buy a few things out of season, that does not bother me.
Hope you have a great weekend!!
Hi cate! I hope you are getting plenty of rest and starting to feel a bit better! Agree as well about Bates and Anna...it is time to move on one way or the other. I also wish good things for Edith. She has done some not-so-nice things in the past, but everyone makes mistakes, and she deserves something good in life now, IMHO. :)
DeleteThat coat with the fur skirt is divine! I'd almost enjoy being in the snow if I were wearing that.
ReplyDeleteWe had some weekend plans that will now wait for next weekend. We woke to rain, grey skies and cool temps. We've decided to stay in and putter around the house. I hope you have a lovely weekend, FFM.
Oh yes, the skirt IS divine, Desert Flower! It makes me wish even more that I lived where it snows, and that I had somewhere to wear it to...perhaps some day. :)
DeleteYou are getting a lot of cooler weather lately...lucky you! It is still warm here, and I wish it would cool back down for a good while. Enjoy your time at home. I always love tucking in when it's rainy and cold outside.
Have you checked out the Downton Facebook link on WFF's blog a few days ago? V. funny.
ReplyDeleteHi Lane! I haven't been able to make my rounds yet this weekend, but will definitely make a point to stop and see what WFF has been up to. Thanks for the heads up! :)
